Kindness Mission

Heart

Each day at 7:00 pm, step outside your home (with your family) and make some noise (use your voice, instruments or anything that makes noise) for all the essential workers who help to take care of our community (ex. nurses, doctors, paramedics, hospital cleaning staff, grocery store clerks, truck drivers, etc.).

Let's Write! (20 min.)

Today's Topic:
Pick your favourite animal. Write about what you think that animal would do if it was a mother taking care of her babies.  
 
Hint: Think about what the babies need to survive, and how the Mom would help provide that. 

1. Instructions:

  • ​​​Write for at least 10 minutes.

  • Write in your journal or special writer’s notebook.

  • Pick any topic you like or use the topic for today.

2. Look Over Your Work and Ask Yourself:​

​

  • Does my writing make sense?

  • Is there a better way to say that?

  • Did I try to use some interesting and descriptive words?

  • Did I start with a capital letter and end with a period, question mark, or exclamation mark?

3. Make Corrections and Changes to Your Writing.

​

4. When You Are Finished:

​

  • Scan or take a picture of your work and upload it to your portfolio (myBlueprint).

Math Activity (20 min.)

Choose 4 objects to measure.

Use a ruler or measuring tape to measure:

 

  • Length

  • Height

  • Width

  • Depth

  • Perimeter 

​

Record your findings using pictures, numbers, and words.

 

Remember to include the “unit” (cm, m) of measurement you used.
 
Scan or upload a picture of your work to your portfolio (my Blueprint).

Explain how you use pushes and pulls when you play this sport.

In hockey, you use your arms to move the stick to push the puck. You also can pull the puck towards you.

Reading Time (10 min.)

Match your reading voice to the punctuation in your book:

 

  • A period (.) means telling.

  • An exclamation mark (!) means to use lots of emotion.

  • A question mark (?) means asking. Your voice should go up at the end. 

Math Activity (20 min.)

Choose a number: 
         25  or  58  or  99  or  490

 

Write that number down and answer the following questions: 

 

  • What number is 2 more?

  • What number is 2 less?

  • What number is 5 more?

  • What number is 5 less?

  • What number is 10 more?

  • What number is 10 less?

  • What number is 100 more?

 

Then, record all eight numbers (including the original number) in order from greatest to least
